The Angelina College Lady Roadrunner basketball team has had a season for the ages, and the players and coaches are inviting the public to help celebrate the next big step.
On Monday, March 11, the National Junior College Athletic Association will feature its annual selection show announcing the invitations to the national tournament taking place at Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock from March 18 through March 23.
As the 14th-ranked team in the nation, the Lady Roadrunners are expecting to hear their names called as partners to the big dance. They will become the first women’s team in AC basketball program history to compete for a national title after winning Saturday’s Region XIV Conference Tournament championship game.
AC’s ladies will on Monday host a Selection Show Watch Party at the Angelina College Technology/Workforce conference room (Room TW139). Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. for a meet-and-greet; the team will introduce its players at 9:45, and the selection show begins at 10 a.m.
The 2018-2019 Lady ‘Runners have left their collective mark, finishing the regular season with the best record in program history at 26-3. They climbed into the nation’s Top 10 earlier in the season, and they’ve done it with a roster loaded with local talent. Players from Lufkin, Diboll, Woden and Cleveland are among the mix of Lady Roadrunners.
The Selection Show will be live streamed at http://www.njcaatv.com/landing/index. The Lady Roadrunners will also stream the party from the Angelina College Athletics channel (found on angelinaathletics.com).
