Lady 'Runners Stay Undefeated with Win over Eastern Oklahoma

Dominating from opening tip to final buzzer, the Angelina College Lady Roadrunners remain undefeated at 7-0 following Friday’s 103-74 win over Eastern Oklahoma State College in the opening day of the Angelina Classic at Shands Gymnasium.

AC roared out to a 37-7 lead just seven minutes into the first quarter, with Natasha Mack scoring 18 of her game-high 25 points in the game’s first 10 minutes. Mack would finish with 25 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in just 17 minutes of action. Teeonna Barkley came off the bench to score 21 points, Simran Mayfield added 16 points and Mia Williams chipped in another 14 points in the win.

Every Lady Roadrunner on the roster found her way onto the scoresheet. In addition, guard Brittney Thompson handed out eight assists in 20 minutes of play.

Mack, Mayfield and Williams accounted for 37 of AC’s 39 first-quarter points, with Thompson credited with six assists in the frame.

The Lady Mountaineers got 20 points from Britnee Gabriel and 15 from Deborrah Crutchfield.

In the day’s earlier game, Tyler Junior College took down Hill College by a 72-54 score.

The Classic concludes on Saturday with three games on tap. Tyler will face Eastern Oklahoma at noon; the Lady Roadrunners take on Hill College at 2 p.m.; and the Roadrunner men will battle Arkansas Baptist College at 4 p.m.
