Head Coach Nick Wade enters his second season as head coach at Angelina College after spending two years as the Roadrunners’ assistant coach. In Wade’s previous two seasons, the Roadrunners qualified for the conference tournament, advancing to the semifinals in 2016-2017.
In his first season as the 'Runners' head coach, Wade led his group to an 18-14 record and a deep run in the conference tournament. Following the season, he was named the Region XIV South Zone Coach of the Year. In the summer of 2019, Wade and player Travis Henson were selected to participate in the JA-45 tournament, a showcase featuring the top 45 junior college players in the nation. In addition, Wade saw five members of his '19-'20 group sign on to play at the next level.
Before arriving at AC, Coach Wade was an assistant coach at Conroe Oak Ridge High School from 2014-2016. Prior to that, he served as an assistant coach at McKinney Boyd High School and Lee College in Baytown. During his three years at Lee College, the Runnin’ Rebels finished with the most wins in school history and won the Region XIV conference championship in 2013, eventually advancing to the national tournament’s Sweet 16.
Coach Wade played collegiate basketball at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. In his senior season, Wade led the team in three-pointers made and three-point field goal percentage. In 2010, Austin College achieved its first 20-win season while winning the SCAC West Division Championship. In his coaching career, Coach Wade has coached more than 20 Division 1 athletes and three professional basketball players, two of which currently are in the NBA’s “D” League.
